We are looking for experienced, passionate, and highly driven Quality Engineering Manager, who is looking to step into a new and exciting opportunity to create, define and establish the testing and quality agenda for the Westpac Institutional Bank. The role will see you set a clear vision, directive and be comfortable in a complex work environment, impacting the outcome of business-critical software projects that cut across our proud legacy, and modern application architecture.

What will you do?

  • Supporting our ways of working transformation that is helped by your deep understanding of Agile product development processes
  • Using your communication and influencing skills to manage Quality outcomes from a rich and varied landscape of partners and providers
  • Championing continuous improvement and identifying opportunities to simplify, re-use and automate
  • Leveraging your strong understanding and thought leadership of Quality Engineering principles to help improve quality and test activities
  • Build relationships with cross-functional teams to influence decisions, drive alignment and prioritisation
  • Support the stakeholders and development teams in preparing for and executing the planning events
  • Help teams identify risks and dependencies, manage escalations where required
  • Act as a ‘servant leader’ to the EQS team members. Clearing the way, assisting them work through challenges, always leading by example

What do I need?

  • Institutional banking knowledge will be critical to success and help ensure you are able to hit the ground running.
  • A passionate people leader who has lead members from diverse disciplines and backgrounds, running in multi speed and cadence delivery methods
  • The ability to define and execute strategies that map the technology deliverables to the business goals
  • Influential leadership and interpersonal skills that enable you to communicate and manage relationships across the organisation - from your reports, peers, stakeholders to senior executives.
  • The ability to tell a story, ensuring you can translate complex technical solutions and advice into clear, specific information that is understood by all

Some of the technologies and patterns we work with include:

  • JavaScript, ReactJS, Java, Microservices / API’s, UI Automation (Selenium / Cypress)
  • Continuous delivery and DevOps, Containerisation, Automation, Amazon Web Services, ‘Evergreen’ platforms
  • Complex and disparate non-production environments (modern & legacy) and data landscape
